What It’s About
What if I told you that it’s a good sign if your child often insists on being in charge, struggles with compromise, or becomes frustrated when things don’t go their way? That these behaviors are the very behaviors that lead to learning tools like self-advocacy and developing independence. In this this class I’ll help you reframe and respond to bossy and controlling behavior in a way that fosters cooperation, emotional growth, and respectful communication—without compromising your boundaries or your child’s sense of self.
We’ll explore what’s really going on beneath the surface of controlling behavior and why some children seem especially driven to take the lead. You’ll learn how to recognize the difference between healthy autonomy and behavior that disrupts connection, and how to support your child in developing flexibility, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
The class will offer practical, evidence-based strategies for responding to power struggles, tantrums, and demanding behavior. We’ll talk through common challenges—like mealtime control battles, sibling dynamics, public defiance, and transition resistance—and give you tools to stay calm, consistent, and connected during these moments.
You’ll also learn how to reframe bossiness as a developing strength, and how to guide your child toward leadership without encouraging rigidity or dominance. For families raising neurodiverse children or kids with strong personalities, this class provides inclusive strategies that can be adapted to your child’s needs and your family values.
This class is valuable for any parent seeking to reduce daily stress, increase collaboration, and raise a child who feels heard while learning to listen to others. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your child’s behavior and greater confidence in how to respond with intention, compassion, and calm authority.
